Homeschool 2013-14

In case you haven't heard, we decided to embark on a new family adventure this year: Homeschooling!  This came about for a multitude of reasons, which I won't get into here, but needless to say, we are enjoying it immensely!  I still wanted to take our traditional "Back To School" pictures with the kids - and these are fun because they show how casual we get to be, now that we are staying home: t-shirt and shorts, messy hair....it's a nice break after our busy summer! :)

Grins - Second Grade

Angel - Third Grade

Angel is, of course, thrilled that Izzie (her "American Girl" doll and best friend) can now accompany her to school!  She is indicating that Izzie is in 2nd Grade this year.....who knew?

Not pictured: Wiggles, who is beginning her final year of preschool.  She was grumpy that morning, and, while I had grand plans to take some of her later, they never materialized....

Here's our lovely little School Desk workstation where we spend hours each day.

Each week, we study a letter (mostly for the preschooler in the family - but also as a backboard for coming up with ideas.)  Our first week, we studied A, naturally, and studied things like America, "Apples" art by Paul Cezan, went Apple Picking and baked Apple Pie, to name a few...  Here are the children's "A" lunches one day:

(Apple butter sandwiches, Ants on a log celery and apple sticks)

Grins made and "Alien Antelope" A....

Wiggles

Angel (who can't eat celery due to her braces, and doesn't like raisins...)

Grins was very proud of this car ramp he built, and insisted I snap a photo.  While seemingly unimpressive, I love that these small things are so important and meaningful to them.  I cherish these daily moments with them!  My children are my heart and my joy!!!
