Beach to Beacon

The kids had so much fun running the Close to the Coast Kids Fun Run that we decided to participate in the "Beach To Beacon" Kids run as well!  It was a much larger race, and felt more 'official' to the kids, as they each received their own T-shirt, race number, and were divided into different groups based on age and gender.

The weather cooperated marvelously!

Angel had to run 2 laps (1/4 mile)!

Grins had to run 1 lap (1/8th of a mile):

Wiggles ran 1/16th of a mile (1/2 a lap):

Wiggles didn't want me around - she wanted to do it "all by myself!" :)

And Wiggles leads her group off...
Wiggles at the starting line:
On your mark........get set......GO!

Look at her smiling while she runs....
Here she comes around the bend!
And she crosses the finish line in record time!!
So proud to have finished - and earned her first 'official' medal! :)

Grins' group is lining up at the starting line:
And they're off...
Grins in action:
He crosses the finish line and gets his medal!

There's Angel in action (on the right):
Finishing the first lap!
She did it!
Of course, ice cream bars are the perfect way to cool off after a race!

And face painting is always fun!

Here is the "Beacon" in the beach to beacon race....Portland Head Light.

And then, it was the Mr's turn for the10k.  Unfortunately, with the mass chaos (6,000+ runners plus all of their fans), it's impossible to get anywhere near the starting line or finish line - but here's a picture of the Mr. coming off the finish line.

The kids took advantage of the photo ops:

And congratulated the Mr. on a job well done!
