Acadia National Park

When the Mr. had to go up north for work, we decided to try to squeeze in one last visit to Acadia National Park, on of our FAVORITE places in the world!

On the way up, we stopped at Fort Knox.  Since it wasn't open yet, and we didn't want to wait, this is what we saw of the Fort. :)

Next to Fort Knox is this incredible bridge, which we had fun learning and reading about!  Amazing!!!

Unfortunately, our first (and The Mr's only) day at Acadia was a DELUGE!  It was rainy and cold and, since I am not a boy scout, I was NOT prepared! ;)  It had been SO hot that I hadn't thought to pack rain gear, so fortunately the Gift Shop sold some cheap ponchos, and we decided to just try and make the best of it! :)  The kids were cold, but we told them "No better way to warm up than to get pedaling!"

Despite the rain, our ride was BEAUTIFUL!

Wiggles did NOT enjoy the bike ride.  About a week before this trip, I had attempted to take her on a bike ride, but had failed to tighten the connector enough, which resulted in her tipping over.  This has unfortunately instilled within her a phobia for riding the tagalong bike now. :(  Hopefully she will outgrow it - but she survived the ride, and the rest of us survived her vocal displeasure! :)

While the Mr. went to work, the kids and I enjoyed the climb up Bubble Mountain, and the GORGEOUS view from the summit.  Though we had to stop several times along the way to seek cover from the rain, fortunately, by the time we reached the top, the skies had cleared! :)

Wiggles is hiding from the camera because she is chewing her fingers...which she knows I will not like if I see it. Old habits die hard!!!

The next day - would you believe it? It was over 90 degrees!!!  I wasn't prepared with rain gear the day prior, nor was I prepared with swimsuits for the hot day! :(  Fortunately, the kids didn't mind....they jumped right in in their clothes!
A blurry picture of this adorable face:

The kids spent HOURS creating little pools / dams / rivers / etc.  It was so much fun to watch!

Grins was such a good brother and (with some coaxing) traded shirts with Angel since her light pink shirt became immodest in the water.  What a gentleman!  I love how these two are the best of friends (most of the time!)

What an incredible world we have at our fingertips!
